Zapotec Jalapeno Chilli Seeds

Zapotec Jalapeno Chilli Seeds. The Zapotec Jalapeño (C. Annuum) is and old world Jalapeño from Oaxaca, Mexico. This heirloom cultivar is credited to legend chill grower and collector extraordinaire Beth Boyd – the Chilli Queen. She is credited with having brought many rare and unusual chilli heirlooms back into circulation. Sadly Beth passed in 2014, but her legend lives on.

The Zapotec is named after the indigenous people of Mexico. A super Jalapeno cultivar to grow. Plants grow to around 40-60cm in height. Bushy plants that yield lots of beautiful pods that are roughly 5,000 – 10,000 SHU, which make these extra hot Jalapeños. But these are more than just about heat. They are beautiful to behold, with a very characteristic lengthwise corking. Flavour is key here, lovely sweet fruity Jalapeno flavour with a touch of smokiness. If you like your poppers hot, then this is the one for you. These Jalapeños do not disappoint on the heat. Also good used fresh in salsas or turned into a sauce. General cooking needs – yes and as a great twist, how about some cowboy candy. This is a super chilli with many practical used. We have to give this 10/10.
