Wild Annuum Chilli Seeds

Wild Annuum Chilli Seeds. The Wild Annuum (C. Annuum var Glabriusculum) is a wonderful wild species from South America.

This is an easy Wild Chilli to grow and a good one for beginner growers to try. The Wild Annuum grows quite rapidly, but pods do take some time to ripen. Plants have a very erect growth habit. Plant growth is quite sparse with very determinate branches covered in dense fine hairs. These plants are very unusual in their appearance and very unique with their hairy stems and growth points. This gives the plants an almost silvery look, which juxtapositions beautifully with their almost perfect dark green leaves.

Pods are small and conical, facing upward (7-8mm). Another unusual trait is the long stalk. Single pods per juncture on the plant. Pods ripen from a dark green (sometimes with a dark blush) to orange and finally red.

Pods ripe beautifully and are ideal for drying. Pods given their small size are quite seedy. Thin skinned pods that are juicy inside when picked ripe. For their size, these pods are very hot and have a very pleasant burn that lingers beautifully. Flavour is fruity with a slight mineral trace. All in all we loved growing this cultivar, it is a no nonsense get on and grow plant. It ticks all the right boxes in the looks departments, has a perfect match of heat and flavour and is a very special species indeed. If you are into growing wilds, this is a must have.

You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
