Thai Dragon (Secluded) Chilli Seeds
Thai Dragon (Secluded) Chilli Seeds. The Thai Dragon (C. Annuum) is simply awesome. This is a cultivar we grew back in 2015 and we are super excited to have it back in our grow again. Such an unassuming icon among chillies. Over the years growers have swapped out this original pheno for other cultivars. So much so, that when you look on the internet, you get a confusion of different images coming up under this name. A simple check » Thai Dragon will reveal the actual correct pheno for this cultivar. and this is it.
Easy to germinate and grow, this is a happy go lucky plant. Plants will develop into medium to large plants with a vertical growth habit that has a really great canopy. Productiveness is this cultivars middle name. A big producer of large Thai pods that a very striking dark green in colour. Pods are pendant shaped and pointed at the tip. 6-8cm long pods that are predominantly straight and have a slight ripple along their contour. Pods are downward hanging and ripen eventually from dark green to red.
Pods can be picked green or red and are fantastic for cooking, salsas, dried flakes as well as powder. It is interesting to note with this cultivar (unlike other cultivars), pods do not appear to ripen to red if picked green. They remain green, which is quite unusual and we have not observed this behaviour with any other cultivars that have a final ripening stage. Heat is probably in the range of around 80,000 – 100,000 SHU, delivering a really fantastic all round peppery burn that lingers exceptionally long. This is a very versatile chilli. And we are super delighted to have the real McCoy back in circulation. This cultivar is open pollinated. We did not experience any inconsistency during our grow. In due course we will be embarking on including this cultivar in our Seclusion Programme to secure stability in this cultivar.
Easy grower, massive producer, unusual looks and very versatile in the kitchen. That is an all round winner in our books!

* The container sizes above are sugested sizes that are reasonable and accessible for most growers (taking price, space, ecological/environmental impact into consideration). Not everyone can look at growing in huge containers. If you can justify growing in larger containers - there are no limitations on container sizes. You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
