Rocoto Guatamalan Orange

Rocoto Guatamalan Orange Chilli Seeds. The Rocoto Guatamalan Orange (C. Pubescens) is a stunning Rocoto variety. This variety does seem to prefer cooler weather in our experience. Good germination, followed by consistant growth. One of the unusual characteristics of the Rocoto is their hairy leaves and stems. This plant grows to a height of around 80cm. It does sprawl sideways quite a bit. Pods ripen from green to wonderful orange and do take a nice long grow season to do so - so early planting is advisable. Pods are large, growing to an ovaloid egg shape that is about the size of an average hen egg. Pods are very fleshy, juicy and crunchy. As is the case with most Rocotos, the seeds are an unusual dark brown/black. Flavour is sublimely fruity. Heat on these is around 40,000 - 60,000 SHU. The burn on these is very pleasant, delivering a nicely lingering, all round peppery burn. So many uses for this pepper - as is the case for most Rocotos... the colour on these and their fleshiness as well as excellent flavour would make them ideal for making sauce. They can also be enjoyed fresh as well as dried. One of our all time favourite Rocotos!

Not everyone can look at growing in huge containers. If you can justify growing in larger containers  - there are no limitations on container sizes. You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
