Peperone Friariello di Napoli. Peperone Friariello di Napoli (C. Annuum) also known as Peperone Friariello or Friariello di Nocera. This is a fantastic and much sought over Italian Heirloom cultivar originating from Naples. Fantastic growers and producer. Plants are small to medium and massive producers throughout the season of lovely glossy cone shaped pods that ripen from green to an amazing red when fully ripe. An early start will see multiple flushes throughout the season. Pods are quite similar to "Shishito", but pods are larger and firmer with three lobes at the base. The chillies can be harvested green or red according to personal preference. When red, they are fruity and sweet with slight minerally traces. Heat is around the 10,000 SHU mark. Traditionally used green as a frying pepper, pods can also be pickled when red or used for salsas. A legend!
