Maldavian Heart X Purple Bhut

Maldavian Heart X Purple Bhut Chilli Seeds. The Maldavian Heart X Purple Bhut (C. Chinense) is a really unusual, beautiful cross between two chinense varieties. The Maldavian Heart is a hot Habanero variety that originates from the Maldives. The Purple Bhut being a purple strain of an old classic - the Ghost Pepper - India's hottest chilli. What makes this variety so special is its pure showmanship. This plant grows well to a height of around 60 - 70cm. Foliage on these plants is dense and leaves are green with amazing dark green/purple veins and stems/branches. Flowers too on this plant are quite exraordinary with a kind of mauve colouring to them. But most spectacular of all is the colour changes of the pods. Pods will change from a unusual purple/green to purple to orange/purple and finally a lovely red withl darker blushes of deep red. It is quite spectacular to see these plants change all the time. We do not believe that this variety is a totally stable variety as pheno type does fluctuate on these - some showing a more Bhut Jolokia pheno trait and others a smoother, larger habanero appearance. The smell and flavour on these is fruity, citrus and slightly floral. The heat is not superhot, but up there 600,000 - 800,000 SHU. The burn is front of mouth and well rounded with a great lingering burn. A really awesome chilli variety to grow that may yet have surprises up its sleeve in future generations. So if you are interested in growing something that may just reveal an amazing variety further down the line - this is a great choice!
