Hong Kong

Hong Kong Chilli Seeds. Ok, we know very little about this chilli. All we can tell you is that the seeds come from India. The chilli is called Hong Kong. It grows to a lofty height of about 1,6 / 1,7 metres. Plant grows well, vertically in a funnel like plant shape. It grows into a sturdy plant with a good yield of these pods hanging from the plant. Big cone shaped pods that are about 10cm in length and 5cm at the widest width. The skin on these pods is tough in the sense of hard. This having been said.... The pods are fleshy on the inside. Very juicy on the flesh, squirting juice when you bite into the pods. The taste on these peppers is exceptionally fruity... very rich! In our opinion a lovely flavour... really lovely flavour and exceptionally good all round burn from these chillies. We would put the burn on these peppers in the same category as your Serrano/Cherry Bomb/Tabasco... so probably looking at about 10,000 - 15,000 SHU. Nothing aggressive... a slow build to the burn (in typical indian chilli fashion) and a long lasting burn in the mouth. Burn is complimentary to the lovely flavours... really well rounded flavour and burn. Only negative for me is the skin. A great lesser known chilli... but the skin is hard. But possibly an amazing candidate for pickling or making sour mash/pepper sauce from... in fact we think this might be brilliant for that (in our humble opinion). We can imagine these making an amazing powder too. Really... besides the hard skin... these chillies rock!

Not everyone can look at growing in huge containers. If you can justify growing in larger containers  - there are no limitations on container sizes. You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
