Guarda Cielo Chilli Seeds
Guarda Cielo chilli seeds. The Guarda Cielo (C. Annuum) is a small Italian cultivar. The english translation is Looking at Sky. Presumeably this refers to the plants trait of pods that are “heaven facing”. Not much information is available on this cultivar. Whether this is a well known chinese cultivar that has been grown and renamed in Italy, or, whether this is a Italian heirloom in its own right is not known. In any case, a very interesting plant. Small enough to use in windowsill container growing and one that is very pleasing to the eye. A very compact plant with pointy leaves that also seem to almost point upward and radiate outwards from each cluster of pods. Really a very striking plant. The pods are arranged in clusters all over the small dense plant. Much reminiscent of Prik Kee Noo, Chi Chien or Rooster Spur cultivars. With the exception that the pods are much larger and a cone shape. Pods ripen from a grass green to lovely rich red colour. These pods undoubtedly lend themselves well to drying and making into a splendid powder. Heat is around 30,000 – 50,000 SHU. Flavour is quite straight forward. Peppery with strong citrus flavour. This is a good pepper would not go amiss around the kitchen or in the vegetable patch.

* The container sizes above are sugested sizes that are reasonable and accessible for most growers (taking price, space, ecological/environmental impact into consideration). Not everyone can look at growing in huge containers. If you can justify growing in larger containers - there are no limitations on container sizes. You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
