Filius Blue chilli seeds. The Filius Blue (C. Annuum) is essentially a ornamental chilli plant. It is a small Annuum variety that grows to around 30cm in height. A compact attractive bush with beautiful dark purple/green foliage covered in a canopy of marble sized ovaloid pods that are upward facing. Pods are purple at first and change through orange to red when fully ripe. The name is a little misleading to us as the pods or foliage are not really blue from what we could see. Pods are purple and foliage is green with a dark purple blush. As is the case with most chillies, these pods are edible and do have heat. These chillies are annuum and flavour as well as heat is very annuum/cayenne like with a very stringent one dimensional burn. A peppery burn that lingers well in the mouth. While this variety can be used for cooking or made into a general purpose chilli powder, this is not the best application for this chilli in our humble opinion. This chilli is king in the garden. It is a very attractive ornamental that will add esthetic to pots, balconies and borders in the garden. We will also add that this variety does provide a long season display as it is tolerant of cooler temperatures - unlike most varieties that start to go dormant when cooler April/May weather comes around.
