Brazillian Pumpkin Chilli Seeds

Brazilian Pumpkin chilli seeds. The Brazilian Pumpkin (C. Baccatum) is another one of those unusual looking chillies. It looks very similar to the Brazilian Starfish, but is a different cultivar in it’s own right. Plants have a more determined structure to them. The plants grow to a height of around 1,2m. Vertical growth with a definite tree like structure. Pods start out dark green and have a lovely undulated, starfish like shape when they first appear. As the pods grow, they do flesh out, becoming rounder, fuller with a more pumpkin like appearance. Once fully ripe, the pods ripen to beautiful red colour. Pod size is larger than it’s relative. Heat wise, the Brazilian Pumpkins are mild to medium. They have a lovely thick, crisp flesh that will add a lovely crisp crunch to any salad or salsa. Flavour wise, there is a lot of fresh citrus and peppery flavours. There’s a sweetness there too. Lovely peppers to snack on straight off the plant. Super for stuffing and pickling. These plants do – in typical baccatum fashion – take time to ripen. They are not as large a producer as the Brazilian Starfish, but the pods are far more appropriate for stuffing or pickling, given their size.

You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
