Aji Pineapple Chilli Seeds
Aji Pienapple Open Pollinated Chilli Seeds. The Aji Pienapple (C. Baccatum) would appear to be a very close relative to the well established Aji Lemon. While the two are different cultivars, there are but three degrees of separation between the two – or at least so we believe. Having grown both, their growth habits are very similar and it would be virtually impossible to distinguish between the two.
The flowers are typically baccatum, with corolla that displays the beautiful yellow/light green blush on the inner of the flower. Pods do differ to that of the Aji Lemon and this is where we will accept that the two are different cultivars. Pods are much smaller in our experience. They ripen from a light green to brilliant yellow. The shape of the pods is pointed and irregular. In comparison Aji Lemon have a very well defined consistent shape with a typical Aji tip to the pod. There is also a purple/brown blush that appears on the pods as they ripen.
Aroma and flavour are very similar. Fruity citrus aroma and taste up front. Less of the cologne we picked up on the Aji Lemons. The Aji Pineapple pods seem sweeter. Heat and burn are in the same ballpark.
A lovely chilli to add bright splashes of colour to the chilli patch. These pods are great for drying and make a super chilli powder or flakes. Given their colour, they can also be used for cooking and raw in salsa dishes.

* The container sizes above are sugested sizes that are reasonable and accessible for most growers (taking price, space, ecological/environmental impact into consideration). Not everyone can look at growing in huge containers. If you can justify growing in larger containers - there are no limitations on container sizes. You may however, rather look at growing in soil as an option in these instances. Using large amounts of potting medium will come with ecological/environmental impact, which you may wish to take into consideration.
