Chilcostle chilli seeds. The Chilcostle (C Annuum) is an heirloom Mexican chilli variety. This is a specialist chilli used in dishes from the Oaxaca region. Plant germinates well and is a consistent grower reaching a height of around 120cm in our experience. This plant has a good yield of pods that ripen from dark green to dark red when fully ripe. In our experience there does seem to be variance in pod shape (pheno) with this variety. Pod shapes vary from thin tapered to broad uneven polano like pheno. These chillies are not terribly hot, with an easy going 3,000 SHU - depending on growing conditions. These chillies are fruity and smokey with some mineral notes. As mentioned, these are specialty chillies that have a particular application in Mexican cuisine. They are either used cooked into sauces and stews or dried and used reconstituted in dishes.
